Screaming along - May 5

Solis log: 25 31'38N 162 10'56W

Last night I was up a lot steering. The wind would blow, stop, change directions, blow, stop. It was beyond irritating. This morning it started to blow steady at about 7:30. I got up and have been steering since. The wind is now at about 25 knots, we're screaming along. If this holds we'll be there to Kauai in 37 hours. The seas are picking up and we're getting banged around a bit, but nothing to worry about.

thankful your winds are picking up and moving you all toward beaches and the delights of foods of choice!Your frustration at your previous pace where understandable but the fish and sea life you describe wouldn't have been a part of your journey at a speedier pace, thanks so much for the wonderful visions your words impart

Ok? After careful calculation, taking all weather and currents in considerations. I think they will be in on the 7th or 8th or maybe the 9th. But they are definitely going to Hawaii.

Sunny beaches boys, Have fun.

Gentlemen,
Great to catch up with the saga and read that cheeseburgerville is right off the bow of your tongues.
Still, how about a peach....fresh peach might come in a close second with the burger.

If you can make your way around the north side of Kauai, just ~2 miles south of Princeville, there is a mango smoothie shack tucked into the tall reeds on the west side of the road that will crush any thirst you've got.

If you get that far, might as well jump into Hanalei just up the road, good bbq just behind the Foodland and shave ice the size of your head across the street from the liquor shack on your way into town. Legend has it that Puffy the dragon used to hang in the cave up the road...you know the song...
Peace

"...Every master and pilot prided himself on knowing exactly how much way his ship was making. He knew the ship, he considered the wind, he watched the sails, he watched the water. In fact, it was a matter which just could not be explained to the landsman. A good sailor knew his ship, and that was all."
