dead in the water - May 3

Today we are again absolutely dead in the water. Right now we are drifting in the opposite direction. Dead still, water flat, no wind. I think I'm going to drop the sails to help reduce the banging noise. We were skirting the edge of two weak pressure systems and the prediction was that we would make it on the edge today. But in checking the weather (and the obvious observation) we are now between the two systems caught in the calm.
I think it was 8 days ago that I said something like "no more than 8 days to go!"...that was 9 days ago. Looking at the weather, it says we should not have any wind for another 17 hours. Then it supposed to be a head wind. With that delay, we're looking at another 4 to 5 days from now.

OK, thats all for today.

Sounds like perfect weather for fishing and some serious rays, dude! Crack open a cold frothy one, flip on the jams and relax! This is what it's all about. ILU

Darshaun,

Wow, what an incredible journey! Just read through all the logs and comments.
Glad you made it through the typhoons especially the one on Hachijojima. Global weather is really getting all messed up with this global warming.

Too bad about the fishing... You should be able to troll for fish similar to buri in the early morning as you can catch them with lines no deeper than 10 meters even without a lure.

Hope your father recovers soon to enjoy the last leg of the journey!

Thanks to hunza.org for tracking the route!

All the beach bums of Ohama, Shimoda are with Team Solis in thoughts and prayers of good winds and a safe landing!

And May 8th is looking good for those cheeseburgers!

Best,
Francis aka TokyoAce aka beachvolleyball bum on Ohama

Hi Adventurers,

Been following your adventure oh so closely!

Need to ask a favor though.

The spy boat that was shadowing Solis, has run out of fuel and we lost you completely.

We are now unable to home-in on your location to update the map/route on hunza.org and we (along with many who follow your blog) are, well, stranded!

Can you please give us your co-ordinates so we can update the map and work out when to start chilling the champagne?

My guess for when you hit land is May 9th.

Wishing you a relaxing, enjoyable and safe last stretch!!

Cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like to be floating out at sea. Guess it is a good opportunity to really get to know yourself! Your descriptions are just fabulous!

To our Hunza friends,
First, a HUGE thank you for the site and for updating so diligently!
The last couple of updates have not included the coordinance as you point out. We are hopeful the next update will include this data needed for your posts. Unless we receive a phone call home to remind Captain D that we need this information, it will be up to him to include this in his next email to us. (This is how we keep the blog updated)

Thanks again for your excellent work on www.hunza.org
