10 Hours To Go - May 7

Solis log: 22 14'54N 160 21'09W

Darshaun called at 2:45 P. M. California time today to let me know they are 40 miles NW of Kauai. The island is within their sight. Because of wind conditions they are not landing in Nawili Harbor in Lihue but will go to Port Allen on the SW side of the island. Darshaun estimates they will be there within 10 hours.
Ron is very sick again. This has been a constant challenge on the trip and an additional weight of worry and concern Luke and Darshaun have carried. The adamant advice of the family is  get him to an emergency room as soon as possible,  get an IV started to rehydrate and a preliminary evaluation. Darshaun says that they will insist with Ron on this one.
Regardless of the time Darshaun will call me when they are on land. I will leave a message in the morning....
Happy Days!

Cheeseburgers tomorrow, then.

Tonight we shall in Ron's honor sip a neutral saline solution with glucose; then we'll play the didgeridoo (David) and flute (me) along with some drumming to send healing energy waves to Ron.

Love to all -
Lucy & David

Hang in there guys!
You'll be taking hot showers, eating hot food and sleeping in fluffy dry beds, before you can say "Jack Sparrow" (ok, when spoken slowly).

Shannon,
Thanks for the missing co-ordinates.
I've updated the site with the missing ones and the latest one!

Friends of Solis!

Just recieved a call from Dad (Ron)!!! They're only 2 hours out and in cell range...you can only imagine how wonderful and relieveing it was to hear Dad's voice. He sounded good, a little weak but good. Of course and as expected, he doesn't think he needs medical attention. He said a little 7-up and he should be good to go. I'm sure after he gets a little R&R, he'll update as to his medical condition, however in the meantime, I may finally get a good nights sleep tonight.

Hanapepe has a few good deli's and at least one good burger place (not like Bubba's, but ok) Also a decent Brewery up the road in Waimea that rock's, big time.

Thank god for a safe arrival. SO much more to say, but for now signing off, grateful.
ILU Dad, D and the King...

Luke just called from his cell phone they are two hours or less to Kauai. Excitement in all their voices. I made Luke promise to get a shot of Darshaun as they sail in. He says they have been taking lots of pix with the island in the foreground.
Talked to Ron and he insists all he needs is a cold
7-Up and he'll be fine. He's alright!!!!
Dave, Darshaun says, "he can't wait to talk to you."
I'll post exact time of arrival in the morning.

love and gratitude abound,
shannon

Darshaun just finished tying up the boat, after arriving around 11 P.M.
Earlier this evening when I talked to Ron he sounded alright just couldn't wait to get a 7-Up. He insisted the hospital thing was ridiculous and unnecessary, said he was just fine.
Well, as Darshaun and Luke were tying up the boat Ron was resting on the ground barely able to walk. Darshaun and Luke have enlisted a few guys to give them a ride to the hospital. Evidently Ron now agrees it might be a good idea. Will keep updating as information comes in.
But for now they have made it!!!!!

Welcome to the US, Gents, and congratulations on an amazing adventure!!! I can't wait to hear all the details and see the pictures. Oh! and the video...

You know, after spending all that time at sea, I'm sure that it will take some time to get re-acquainted with land, again. The rocking motion of the sea will last for quite a while.

Ron, Darshaun, and Luke - Nice to hear that you are safe on solid ground.

Last but not least, Dear Solis, angel of the sea, thank you for bringing your master and his crew safely across the vastness of the wild Pacific. You are the great lady behind the man.

The mythical dry land!! Congratulations to all, a most excellent adventure. Looking forward to the pics and future tales from the big blue.

Had a Noah’s Ark burger yesterday in pre-arrival celebration, and in honor of Ron managed to keep the whole thing down.

Thanks for sharing, and prayers for Ron’s speedy recovery,

Gene

A song will lift
As the mainsail shifts
And the boat drifts on to the shoreline.
And the sun will respect
The every face on the deck,
The hour that the ship comes in.

Then the sands will roll
Out a carpet of gold
For your weary toes to be a-touchin'.
And the ship's wise men
Will remind you once again

That the whole wide world is
watchin'.

Well, shucks-ain't life just grand!
So glad you made to Kauai-great port of call-good call.

I've got my virtual pom-pom's out and I'm shakin' 'em!
Best wishes to Ron for a speedy recovery.

Hope you guys get your fill of all things fixed, planted, anchored, immobile, stationary, steady, unmoving, steadfast, and the other words that are the antithesis of the swaying path you've taken over the last three weeks.
I can imagine a good jog down the beach or a bicycle ride might feel amazing.

How good did that first step off the boat feel?

Somehow I've got the feeling that you're going to want to get back on the boat and back under way sooner than you think....
Peace

Go spend some money.... you've earned it! Maybe a burger or two?
