Hi guys!

Glad to hear that things have calmed down at long last. You must be exhausted. Amir made a cool Google map to track your progress. http://www.hunza.org/
I hope this link works.

Click on the link below to see a cool map of just where Ron, Darshaun & Luke are in the Pacific Ocean. Any one want to guess when they will arrive in Hawaii?

Big thanks to Amir...the map is very cool and really helps the visual synapses click the imagination down to earth (and sea.) Here's to smooth sailin for the Solis crew, continued prayers for a beautiful ride and heart relief gratitude for the good news last posted.
Much love to you, Ron, Darshaun and Luke and to everyone out there holding them safe in your hearts.

Jeff and Amir, thanks for putting this google map together and sharing! It's far more sophisticated than the tracking I've been attempting! For anyone who hasn't viewed the link, simply cut and past the link in Jeff's original post. (www.hunza.org) From there, you can select the "hybrid" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen for more detail. Then, locate the navigational arrows on the upper left hand corner of the screen to "scroll" east. You'll be able to visualize the distance to Midway, Hawaiian Islands and finally, the Golden Gate, new home to Solis at the Berkeley Marina!

Jeff, my guess till they dock on Kauai (if they don't stop at Midway) May 9-11.

Love the map, it has everything I was unable to create on my own. It's encouraging and exciting to see their progress.
This is beginning to be fun, great having this connection with all of you. I see Marina has joined us, hey....
D A+ on Darshaun/Solis profiles, and for answering the questions we might be thinking but don't ask.
It's a bit too soon for me to predict ETAs. They are beginning to make good time, Darshaun will not want to let go of that edge so Midway is a possibility, but If dad is better and winds are strong they may not stop.
D??? What do you think?
Any predictions or thoughts from the Japanese side/blog?
I feel a great strength emerging with the crew of Solis. Darshaun's love of sailing will be rewarded....

p.s. The image is Darshaun's favorite painting.
A print has always hung in his room. Dad and I bought it when he was three or four at Bob Lauderdale"s yard sale, down in the harbor back in the "old days".
Anyone know the artist or name?

Guys, good to hear that you were tested early and overcame the obstacles thrown in your way, that your love for this adventure continues to grow. In all the sailing adventures that I have read it is the test that is the adventure and the pleasant part is the reward. I hope to read about the three of you swimming in the shallows of some remote atoll before you reach Hawaii. One of those hidden places that is reserved for the true adventurers.

It sounds like the “Barnacle” is getting his rest, maybe saving up for when you really need him. I thought barnacles attached themselves to the outside of the hull?

Ron, you got your orders: get off the patch, get off your ass, roll yourself a fatty, get up and deck and enjoy the cool runnings my brother.

Much love and our prayers are with you guys,
Gene

For me it has always been the experience in retrospect that is what you love about something. I hated doing some of the climbing and hiking around when I was in the moment but being with your loved ones and then laughing about how you got through it later... thats what I love.

Stick with it and good luck
